Alexander Ross

Hello! My name is Alex, and I have been photographing professionally since 2013.

My Style:
My style can be described as bright and candid. I enjoy the bright, vibrant colors of weddings. strong whites and brilliant smiles. I love photographing joy and love.

I am a story-teller, dedicated to capturing more than just an image. The story I tell is what makes my work stand out among others.

My typical client:

My typical client is up early on a Saturday, and are eager to start their day. They probably have a dog, and enjoy the fresh-air and great outdoors. They enjoy neutral tones and new-takes on old traditions.

My Photography Journey

When I was a kid, my family took a cross-country road trip to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Along the way, we made stops in many states, and I watched incredible scenery pass by through the windows of our cramped, hot car. My mother brought along her Kodak point-and-shoot camera to take pictures of the whole trip. But soon, I found a way to convince her to let me take pictures- a lot of pictures. While there, I saw intensely saturated and colorful hot springs, waterfalls, and many animals including a single black bear! It was on this trip that I discovered my love of photography.

For my 16th birthday, I asked my dad to get me my first camera. I wanted a DSLR, a camera which would allow me to have more control over my work. I found a used DSLR on Craigslist (A Canon 300D with 6.3 megapixels!), and my father took me to pick it up. It was love at first sight.  I spent as much time as I could attending seminars, lectures, and practicing with this camera and further honed my craft. I spent a lot of time on photography critique sites, learning and improving. I brought my camera along with me to a family wedding and that is where I discovered what I loved to photograph most.

I soon upgraded to a Canon 40d, a mid-level camera which expanded my control. I shot more weddings, and fell even more in love with capturing emotions that were so pure, so honest, and so joyful. This is the love that keeps me working as a wedding photographer today.

Through college, I practiced my photography, exploring aspects of all types of photography including macro, long exposure, and complex portraiture. I attended classes on documentary film making, and worked on my college's TV production crew where I learned how to edit and direct both fictional and journalistic video.

I am now proud to continue offering my services and my vision to clients seeking the best photographer to help them remember their special day. I am a memory preservation specialist. I am a storyteller. I am a wedding photographer.

I hope to be able to share my love and my passion with you on your special day. For rates and services, please see my Services page.
