Rainy Day at the Toledo Zoo
When it's time to take a vacation and a few days to rest, I tend to spend most of it... 'working'. As a photographer, I often find that I cannot go anywhere without my camera in hand, intent on capturing the best images that I can.
On this particular day, I went up to the Toledo Zoo, one of the best Zoos in the country (and for sure the best in Ohio in my opinion), hoping to grab some good photos. Here in Akron, Ohio, the weather was supposed to be mid-60s and rainy. I thought that would be perfect weather for the zoo.
When I got to Toledo and exited my car, I quickly found out that Toledo, unlike Akron, was only supposed to be mid-30s. Big mistake. After spending too much on a hoodie in the gift shop just to keep my poorly-prepared self warm, I set out to look at animals and get some photographs.
It turned out to be a pretty good day to photograph. I saw maybe 20 other guests at the zoo all day, which meant ample time for blocking an exhibit to get a shot. Unfortunately, mid-30s and April meant that many animals were off exhibit, holed up in the warmth of their lodging. This left mostly the indoor animals and the winter-hardy animals. Below are some of my favourites from this trip.
I hope you enjoy! If you ever get the chance to go to the Toledo Zoo, you should go! (And bring a coat, and check the weather).
